These young mothers are often not permitted to continue their education, confronting the harsh realities of a future limited by a lack of education. <br />Recognizing education as the cornerstone of success, the Mthunzi Foundation (MF) observes the alarming deprivation of educational rights experienced by these young women. In Gamo-Gofa Zone, recent landslides triggered by heavy rainfall have devastated entire communities. Families have lost their homes, loved ones and livelihoods. Thousands of people are now displaced, with no access to adequate food, clean water, shelter or medical care. Many are sleeping in unsafe conditions, trying to survive with very little. Young children are among the most vulnerable, including those under five. Mothers are displaced with their babies, facing extremely difficult and uncertain conditions. Schools and community spaces have been destroyed, removing vital support systems for families. Farmland has been damaged, crops have been lost and livestock have died, leaving families without income or food sources. The impact is both immediate and long-term, with many facing ongoing food insecurity and hardship. Urgent support is needed to provide essential items such as food, clean water, shelter materials and basic supplies. Without immediate assistance, vulnerable families will continue to face worsening conditions. Your support can help ensure they are not left behind as they begin to recover and rebuild.

In many underprivileged communities, children are growing up without access to consistent education, healthcare or emotional support. Poverty continues to limit opportunity, leaving many young people without the tools they need to build stable futures. Swanakids Trust works to break this cycle by providing children with access to schooling, nourishment, medical care and ongoing emotional support. One young boy, Kitso, joined the program at age 10 having never attended school. Previously sent to work in the fields to support his family, education felt out of reach. With support, he is now thriving academically and dreams of becoming a teacher to help other children in his village. There are many more children like Kitso who need practical resources to stay in school and remain healthy. Swanakids Trust is seeking donated items to strengthen its programs and continue providing opportunity, dignity and hope to vulnerable children.
