Prohibited Items on Recovere

To ensure the safety, dignity, and well-being of recipients, the following items are strictly prohibited from being donated through Recovere. These guidelines align with our donation principles which prioritise high-quality donations, meeting real needs, supporting community-led recovery, protecting privacy, and reducing waste.


The following are prohibited items:


1. Hazardous Materials


Toxic or harmful substances, including chemicals, flammable materials, and expired medical supplies.


2. Perishable Goods


Perishable food and beverages, unless specifically requested by an organisation with appropriate storage facilities. Animal fodder from uncertified sources or unknown regions due to biosecurity risks. Food vouchers are permitted.


3. Damaged or Incomplete Items


Broken items, items with missing parts, or those requiring repair. Recalled products or items that do not meet local safety standards.


4. Illegal or Restricted Items


Items prohibited by law, including counterfeit goods, unlicensed weapons, drugs (including prescribed and over-the-counter) and drug paraphernalia, alcohol, tobacco, or similar substances.


5. Personal and Hygiene Items


Used personal hygiene products such as used underwear. Any item that poses a hygiene or safety risk.


6. High-Value or Irrelevant Items


Cash, jewellery, and luxury goods not required by organisations. Items unrelated to specific needs, such as lottery tickets and raffle prizes are prohibited requests.


7. Privacy-Risk Items


Items requiring the exchange of personal information, such as motor vehicles, mobility scooters (where registration is required), and transport tickets or vouchers that involve sharing personal details to complete the purchase (e.g., plane tickets).


8. Digital and Inappropriate Materials


Digital downloads or subscriptions not related to organisational needs. Illicit, inappropriate, or pornographic materials.


Responsibilities of Organisations


Organisations must ensure all donated items are appropriate, meet the needs of their communities, and comply with local and international laws. Any prohibited items received must be immediately reported to Recovere.


Reporting and Enforcement


If prohibited items are listed or donated, they will be removed from the platform. Repeated breaches may result in account suspension or termination.
