Tuinue Mashinani Community Based Organization (CBO) is a grassroots, community-led organisation based in Ivovoani, Muthwani Ward, Machakos County. Formed by local residents, it responds to the reality that limited access to basic resources continues to restrict opportunities for children and young people in deeply rural communities. Tuinue Mashinani focuses on education, youth empowerment, health, and dignity in a mashinani setting where access to the internet, digital devices, mentorship, and basic learning tools is extremely limited. Many young people are out of school due to financial hardship, yet remain eager to learn, volunteer, and build better futures for themselves and their community. At present, Tuinue Mashinani CBO has no computer. Most young people in Ivovoani have never used a laptop, even as education, jobs, and services move increasingly online. In this context, a laptop is not a luxury, it is access. A shared laptop would enable young people to learn basic digital skills, complete schoolwork, and apply for jobs and scholarships. It would also strengthen the CBO’s ability to keep records, plan activities, and report transparently to partners. This single tool would help bridge the gap between potential and opportunity, ensuring that where a young person is born does not determine how far they can go.

"A Helping Hand: 10 Students with Disability at UNIMA Chancellor College Appeal for Laptop Donations"*<br /><br />Ten students with disabilities at the University of Malawi's Chancellor College are urging donors to support their education by donating 5 laptop computers. The students, who are part of the university's disability community, face significant challenges in accessing learning materials and completing assignments due to limited access to technology.<br /><br />The appeal is being made through the Centre for Disabilities and Elderly Affairs (CDEA), a registered NGO with the Government of Malawi. CDEA is working to support students with disabilities in achieving their academic goals and promoting inclusivity in education.<br /><br />"Laptop computers will greatly ease our learning experience," said one of the students. "With these tools, we can access online resources, complete assignments efficiently, and participate fully in classes."<br /><br />The students are pursuing various undergraduate and postgraduate programs at Chancellor College, and their determination to succeed despite the challenges they face is inspiring.<br /><br />Donors can support this cause by donating new or gently used laptops through CDEA. Your contribution will make a significant difference in the lives of these students.<br /><br />Every donation counts, and together we can empower these students to reach their full potential.

We have a classroom full of eager minds, curious hands raised, eyes lit up with possibility. Now imagine telling those same students, “Sorry, we can’t access the internet today.”That’s the reality at Nandom L/A Primary and JHS.Over 100 students. One shared dream: to learn, to grow, to be part of a world that’s moving fast. But no computer lab.No way to learn digital skills. No safe space to explore coding or research. No access to the basic tools many others take for granted. We’re ready to change that.Together with our community, we’re building a computer lab right there in the school. Desks, laptops, internet access, and the support these students need to thrive in a digital world.Because every child deserves more than chalkboards and broken wires. They deserve opportunity. This isn’t just about tech. It’s about giving students a real shot at the future they dream of.If you’ve ever believed in the power of education to break cycles, this is your moment. We’ve got the plans. We’ve got the local support. Now we need the partners who’ll help us bring it to life.Want to be part of something real?Let’s build the lab. Let’s build the future. One student. One big possibility at a time.
