Portable cot

On the 14th of March 2026, the CLR Team visited the Makause Informal Settlement in Germiston, South Africa — a place where more than 30,000 people live in extreme poverty, many in conditions almost impossible to imagine.
This is the reality for families here. Homes built from corrugated metal. Limited access to basic services. And a community surviving day to day with extraordinary resilience.
As the CLR Foundation team arrived, we were welcomed by two remarkable women who run small day care centers — safe spaces where local children spend their days while their parents search for work.
We brought toys for over a hundred children, and witnessing their excitement was deeply moving. In the midst of hardship, their laughter and joy reminded us of the power of small acts of kindness.
One of the most heartbreaking moments was seeing where the babies sleep — on the floor, with no cots, no prams, no mattresses. These little ones deserve so much more.
The older children play soccer on a dusty open field, without goalposts or grass, yet they play with pride and spirit. Even with so little, they find joy in the game.
Standing among the children of Makause, we were reminded of the importance of community, compassion, and action. Their humility, their smiles, and their strength left a deep impact on all of us.
This is why we are asking for your help.
Your contribution — no matter how small — can make a real, tangible difference for these children.
Together, we can provide safe sleeping spaces for babies, better facilities for day care centers, and basic necessities for families who need them most.
Join us in supporting the most vulnerable. Let’s give the children of Makause the hope and dignity they deserve.
Children with disabilities in Blantyre, Malawi are growing up with very limited access to everyday essentials. For many families, even basic hygiene items are difficult to afford, leaving children without the comfort and care they deserve. Centre for Disability and Elderly Affairs (CDEA) is seeking donations of new or gently used baby bath towels to support underprivileged children with disabilities in the community. Clean, soft towels help keep children warm, comfortable and cared for after bathing, while also supporting dignity and good hygiene. Your support can ease the burden on families and provide simple but meaningful comfort to vulnerable children. Together, we can help ensure these children are cared for with warmth and respect.

Many teenage girls are becoming mothers before they’ve had the chance to finish school or build a future. Deep poverty leaves families struggling, and young girls often feel they have no choice but to prioritise survival over education. Without support, these girls face isolation, lost opportunities and a cycle of hardship that continues into the next generation. Mthunzi Foundation is seeking baby bib donations as part of a broader effort to support teenage mothers with education, emotional care and skills training. With practical help and community support, these young women can rebuild confidence, continue learning and create brighter futures for themselves and their children.

In Chifusa village, many teenage girls are becoming mothers long before they are ready. Poverty forces difficult choices, and education is often set aside as young girls focus on caring for their babies and meeting daily survival needs. Instead of planning their futures, they are navigating motherhood with very limited support. Safe transport is a real concern. A secure baby carrier or car seat suitable for children aged 1 to 4 years can make a significant difference when travelling to health clinics, school programs or skills training sessions. Mthunzi Foundation is seeking donations of baby carriers or car seats appropriate for 1 to 4 year old children to help protect these little ones while their mothers work toward education, emotional wellbeing and greater independence. With practical support, these young families can move toward safer and brighter futures.
