Challenges Facing the Community and Teenage Girls

One of the most pressing issues in Chifusa village is the high rate of teenage pregnancies, which significantly affects the community’s social fabric and the future prospects of young girls. Poverty plays a major role in this, as families struggle to provide for their children, and many girls are often forced into early pregnancies as a perceived means of survival.
The rapid increase in poverty levels worsens these challenges, making it harder for young girls to access quality education or pursue personal development. The economic hardship influences their daily choices and often discourages them from seeking educational opportunities because their immediate goal becomes securing basic needs for themselves and their children.
Many teenage girls face a difficult dilemma: prioritizing short-term survival over long-term educational and personal growth. This situation hinders their potential and traps them in a cycle of poverty and limited opportunity. That is why mthunzi foundation is soliciting for donations to help these young teenage mothers with educational support, social emotional support and skills training to help them develop themselves and secure a brighter future from themselves and their families.
