Limited access to appropriate wheelchair services is a major barrier for people with spinal cord injuries in Tanzania. Many individuals either do not have a wheelchair or rely on poor-quality equipment, limiting their ability to access education, work and community life. This project aims to provide affordable, suitable wheelchairs that are designed for local conditions and can be maintained within communities, improving mobility and independence. Women with disabilities face additional discrimination, and Songambele Initiative Organisation is committed to supporting their inclusion and empowerment. By increasing access to appropriate wheelchairs, this project will help reduce stigma, improve livelihoods and enable greater participation in society.

At NAFF Foundation, we care for elderly people who are living with pain, weakness and limited mobility due to strokes, arthritis, injuries and age-related conditions. Many have been confined to bed not because recovery is impossible, but because they simply do not have access to a wheelchair. Without safe mobility, they miss medical appointments, physiotherapy, community connection and even the simple joy of fresh air. Isolation grows, confidence fades and recovery slows. A wheelchair changes everything. It allows an elderly person to move safely, attend therapy, reduce the risk of falls and regain a sense of independence. At the Elderly Physiocare Centre, each donated wheelchair will be used daily to support multiple elderly beneficiaries. By donating a wheelchair, you are restoring dignity, comfort and hope to someone who deserves to move freely again.
